Bronwen Gundry

Bronwen Gundry is a painter who also
makes monoprints. Her paintings contain ambiguous images
which refer to archetypal or organic forms within a
colourfield. The ambiguous forms in her monoprints are
often suggestive of museum specimens or artefacts. She
likes the method of monoprinting as it allows for a
directness of working, similar to painting and each print is
original.
The idea of Bronwen Gundry’s River Yarty project was to
interact directly with nature, through her artistic practice
of oil painting, by placing her usual medium of canvas
directly into a wild, often flooded area and responding to
the impact of nature has on the canvases. In addition she
digitally recorded the changes that took place and finally
returned the canvases to the studio to produce some finished
pieces for exhibiting. She will be opening her studio for
two weeks during September.
