Overview

This major two year arts project in the Blackdown Hills explores the use of digital technology in artistic practice. The project is aimed at all creative people living or working in the area who want to learn new skills or increase their knowledge of new media.

The main aims of the ‘New Eyes’ project are to:

• Give artists and craftspeople within the Blackdown Hills the opportunity to make creative explorations of their environment and have access to developing their professional skills in the process.
• Give community members the opportunity to learn new skills in digital technology with the possibility of working together with artists/craftspeople on creative projects about the Blackdown Hills.
• Create a body of artistic work to be exhibited and form the basis for coordinated small-scale events, to promote the people and places of the Blackdowns to a wider audience.
• Work towards ongoing and sustainable initiatives e.g. artists groups, skills to start new small businesses and so on.
